The man who invented American football was called Walter Camp, also known as”the father of football”. The first American football teams to play were in the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association), the game was Rutgers (New Jersey) against Princeton (also New Jersey). Today, the top 5 teams in the NFL are the Chiefs (Kansas City), the Lions (Detroit), the Eagles (Philadelphia), the Bills (Buffalo), and the Ravens (Baltimore). The bottom 5 teams are the Raiders (Las Vegas), Patriots (New England), Browns (Cleveland), Panthers (Carolina), and the Giants (New York). A Hall Of Famer who was inducted last year was 7 time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady. This year’s Hall of Famer might be Sam Darnold (Vikings quarterback), Saquon Barkley (Eagles running back), or Lamar Jackson (Ravens quarterback).The football player who had the longest career was George Blanda, who played 25 years. He played for the Chicago Bears, the Baltimore Colts, the Houston Oilers, and the Oakland Raiders (there were different team names when Blanda played). George played kicker and quarterback.

On January 2, 2022, in Cincinnati, Ohio, on a 2nd down & 8 play, Damar Hamlin, who is the Bills cornerback, hit Tee Higgins, who is the Bengals tight end, in the chest with his helmet and he collapsed on the ground like a plushie being thrown on the floor. He had died for a moment on the field, but luckily, he came back to life in the ER because he had some fantastic doctors who saved him. Amazingly, he came back to play football again on October 1st, 2023.
