In this article, we’ll be talking about the magnificently well played Manchester City, vs Paris Saint Germain game. On Wednesday, January 22nd, both team’s fans were roaring with excitement as the two entered the field.
Lineups
The starting lineup for Man City, was:
Ederson between the posts,
Dias and and Akanji in center defense,
Gvardiol and Nunez in the defensive corners,
Kovacic, Silva and De Bruyne in midfield,
Savinho and Foden out wide,
And of course, Haaland up top.
For PSG:
Donnaruma had the gloves on,
Marquinhos and Pacho as center-backs,
Hakimi and Mendes as full-backs,
Vitinha, Neves and Ruiz in midfield,
Barcola and Doue as the flying wingers,
And Lee Kang In, Striker.
First Half
The beginning of the game flies past without much happening, when all of a sudden, in the 9th minute, Hakimi receives a through ball, and Dias tries to intercept it with an unclean tackle. Dias gets booked by the referee with a yellow card.
Then in the 10th minute, a PSG free-kick whipped into the box. Neves, at the back post, is unmarked and heads the ball just over the crossbar. What a chance that was!
But in the 13th minute, Man City makes a comeback! Savinho uses his luck by taking a shot, but it deflects off Donnarumma! Then De Bruyne dives in like a bird for a rebound shot, but Donnarumma saves again! A living wall, I would say!
The game calms down a little until Mendes gets caught pulling Nunes’ shirt and gets a yellow booking too!
In the 26th minute, a corner in favor of PSG is sended in the box, and Man City can’t seem to clear it. Fabian fancies his chances and goes for the shot, but Gvardiol clears the ball from the line, and saves City from falling behind.
In the 39th minute, Foden sent a ball to Savinho who managed to have a shot from a very tight angle, but his effort wasn’t enough to penetrate Donnarumma.
In the 44th minute however, Hakimi scored a beautiful goal for PSG, but it was disallowed because a teammate, Mendes, was offside. Then, the first-half whistle was blown.
Second Half
In the 46th minute, Lee Kang In got subbed out for Dembele, Savinho for Grealish, and Dias for Lewis.
In the 50th minute, Man City scores a goal, with Akanji making a great run, and passing it to Sliva who shoots, but the ball deflects off Donnarumma, and Grealish scores from the rebound. The score is now 1-0 for Man City!
A few minutes later, in the 53rd minute, Nunez makes a great run towards the ball, passes it to Grealish, but the pass gets intercepted by Neves, who can’t control it, and the ball gets in Haaland’s possession, who shoots from close range and scores! 2-0 Man City!
In the 56th minute, PSG’s Barcola beats Nunes easily, and crosses the ball from the left side of the field into the box, and Dembele makes a beautiful goal for PSG! 2-1 Man City.
Later, in the 60th minute, Doue from PSG, shoots from outside the box, but his shot hits the crossbar. Fortunately, Barcola gets the goal! 2 all is the current score.
In the 61st minute, PSG decided to freshen up. They subbed in Ramos, for Doue and Zaire-Emery for Ruiz.
9 minutes later, Man City also had a change of mind and subbed in Mcatee for De Bruyne, and Gundogan for Kovacic.
Just a minute later, in minute 71, Dembele nutmegs Silva, and has a go, but the ball strikes the crossbar.
In the 78th minute, Man City subs again, and sends in Stones, for Nunes. Right after the substitution, a PSG favored free kick is whipped into the box, and Neves makes a beautiful diving header from the back post.
In the 81st minute, PSG manager Luis Enrique substituted Hernandez for Barcola. The game played on until the 90th minute, when the referee gave an extra 3 minutes of playing time.
In the last minute of the game, Ramos from PSG scores a goal, but VAR sees it offside, but it also sees that the ball deflected off Man City’s Gvardiol, so the goal counts. 4-2 PSG at the end whistle.
What a beautifully played game! Man City had an extraordinarily beautiful lead in the first half, but couldn’t keep PSG from making a comeback! This was a very tight game! Man City scored two goals in less than 5 minutes, and PSG scored 4 goals in one half!
This here, was probably the best game between these two clubs so far! PSG might have lost their marvel forwards; Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar, but that doesn’t seem to stop them! With a new generation of golden players, PSG and Man City have led their teams to a nail-grinding match!
