It all started in the 2016/17 season, FC Barcelona faced PSG in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. The first leg was in the Parc de Prince in Paris. As the game started, Di Maria scored in the 18th minute from a stunning freekick then Draxler scored before half time. Di Maria scored again 10 minutes into the 2nd half. Then Cavani made it 4-0 in the 71st minute. The final score was 4-0, Barcelona would need to score at least 5 goals at home to make it to the next round. After the game, Luis Enrique said this in an interview: “If they can score four against us, we can score six”. And the rest is history.
The second leg starts in a packed Camp Nou. Barça got an amazing start from a goal in the 3rd minute from Luis Suarez. Then, before halftime, PSG conceded a really strange own goal and it was 2-0. As the second half started, Messi made it 3-0 in the 55th minute from a penalty. But then Cavani scored 12 minutes later. Now Barcelona had around 30 minutes to score 3 goals. In the 88th minute Neymar scored a freekick but it wasn’t enough, they had only seven minutes to score 2 goals. Just 3 minutes after Neymar’s freekick, he scored again from a penalty in the 90+1 minute. Barca needed 1 more goal. Then in the final seconds, Barça had one final attack. Neymar chips it into the box and Sergi Roberto pokes the ball in. The Camp Nou erupts. Barcelona have completed one of the greatest comebacks of all time. It will forever be known as “La Remontada”, (The Comeback in Spanish).
