SF Laver Cup: Europe Against the World

Written by: Lucas M, reporter in ISFM

This was the 8th edition of the Laver Cup this year in San Francisco, California in 2025. Team world and team Europe faced each other in an epic showdown in this year´s Laver Cup, with the presence of Carlos Alcaraz on team Europe. These teams competed at the chase center, SF. The first matchup was Fonseca (World) and Cobbolli (Europe). This match of three sets*. It was very thrilling. Fonseca has energy and Cobbolli has the brains, either one could have won; with power or with strategy. It turns out they were equally matched, but Fonseca’s power beat Cobbolli’s strategy, so on to the next match! In this game, C. Michelsen and R. Opelka went against C. Alcaraz and C. Ruud. With the legend on one team, and rivals on the other, the game started. It turns out that Alcaraz was not playing as well as in his previous tournaments, but it was still an intense game. Michelson was a good volleyer and Fritz was a good back player, but they still lost to the legendary Alcaraz and his teammate, even though Alcaraz wasn’t playing his best. At the end of this amazing

laver cup, team world won, even if they faced the number one player in the world.
