In this article we’ll be talking about Victor Wembanyama, and who he is.
Introduction
Victor Wembanyama is a young NBA player who plays in San Antonio, Texas, for the Spurs, he plays in center with kit number 1. Victor was born on January 4, 2004 in Paris in the region of Le Chesnay. He started playing Basketball at the age of 7. He first played for the team of the Metropolitans of Boulogne Billancourt (a region of Paris). He played number 32 and was in the center position. In the season of 2023-2024, he was 7 feet 4 inches(2m 24cm), but in the season of 2024-2025,he lost one inch he was 7feet 3inches(2m 22cm). He got drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the draft of 2023 in the first overall pick. Victor is now one of the tallest NBA players we’ve ever seen before, some people even called him an alien at the beginning of his career in the NBA. Wembanyama also plays for the French national team, with whom he won a silver medal at the 2024 Olympics. Wembanyama has number one because when he was at the Metropolitans of Boulogne Billancourt, his number was 32 so he decided to do 3-2=1, and this is how he got his number.
Size
Victor Wembanyama is a person that is recognized for a lot of things, but mostly for his size. During all his life, he’s been growing higher and higher until he reached 7 feet 3 inches. At the age of 12 years old, he was already 6 feet(2 meters). This is why some people call him an alien or even a unicorn, and guess who was one of the first people to say that, it was Lebron James. Victor’s shoe size is 58, isn’t it so big, Stephen Curry’s shoe size is only 13! Nobody except the family of Victor knows his size when he was born, but for more information, he was already 5”10 when he was nine. When Victor was 13, he was 5”11, during those 4 years he only had been taller by 1 inch! But no matter what, he is in the top 10 of the tallest NBA players we’ve never had in Basketball history.
NBA draft
When Victor Wemvanyama learned that he was getting drafted by one of the 30 teams in the NBA, he was way more than happy. He flew to Las Vegas for the practices with every NBA coaches(almost all of them)
NBA career
His debut in the NBA was very hard for Wemby, cause he had to see the techniques of each team to get the habit. His first game wasn’t that good, despite scoring 15 points, having 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block. Wembanyama began his NBA career with a loss to the Spurs, but he still made a three pointer in his first shot made in the NBA. He also struggled a lot with fouls in his first game. In the 2024-2025 NBAseason, he averaged 24.3 points in each game.Like a lot of NBA players, his first season in the NBA wasn’t that good at all, even if he got a good percentage of blocks, steals and also rebounds.
