Karate is a martial art that comes from Japan.
It is a very popular sport. People who play sometimes have helmets and gloves but the karate gi (karate uniform) is very important. We call karate competitions: kata. Karate is not only a fighting sport but also a set of patterns. People who do karate are called Karatekas. Karatekas use pads to kick and punch.
In karate sometimes people use weapons like: katanas and sai blades. Karate is not in the Olympics. WKF(World Karate Championships) wants karate to be in the Olympics.
Karate is a great martial art!
