Introduction
Polo is a sport that is based on horseback riding.With a wooden mallet, you hit a small and hard ball in a goal. The team with the most points wins. The goals are very small. Guess what! The polos that you wear (The T-shirt brand) were first used to play the game. Each team has four players. The field measures about 300 yards long, and 160 yards wide. The game is one hour and a half, to two hours long depending on the game. The game is splitted into chukkers, each chukker is 7 and a half minutes long.
History
Polo was created about 2500 years ago in asia.This sport was used to train cavalry units.The english tea planters decided to create the first club of polo in the Himalayan Mountains.The third club was created in Malt by marine officers.It eventually became an olympic sport in the Summer Olympics of 1900. It was played in the Olympics four times, but in 1936, it was removed from the Olympics because of the high price of keeping horses and logistical problems.
Today only really rich people play it because it costs a lot of money to own at least 4 horses (most of them are billionaires)!
Conclusion
In my opinion, polo is a nice sport because it is a team sport. It’s also fun to ride horses.
