In this article, we’ll be talking about archery.
This bow and arrow sport is very debatable. For instance: Some say that archery is a sport, and others think otherwise. Now, archery is a curious sport; you need to try and aim the bow to a target, and release! You can get different scores. The middle zone of the target is called the “Bull’s eye” after that, there are no more names for the zones, just points. Archery was invented around 71,000 years ago! Some say it’s possible that early humans were using archery! Since then, archery has developed from a survival need, to a fun hobby. The World Archery Championship is a competition where pro archers from around the world unite and compete for the gold medal! The most recent WAC (World Archery Championship) was this year, pretty recently in fact. On October 19th – 20th James Lutz, the American, brought back home the golden medal to his fans in the U.S. with a perfect 150 points!
Fun facts:
- The word archery is acquired from “arcus”, a Latin word that means bow and arrows.
- It’s considered one of the oldest sports in the world.
- Archery is scientifically proven safer than golf, and bowling!
