Recently, Real Madrid’s performance has significantly improved, under the new management of Xabi Alonso. The club so far has been top of Laliga, with 8 victories and 1 loss. Mbappe holds the title for the most goals (10 in Laliga and 5 in the Champions League) thanks to a number of changes to the mentality and tactics. The French star has become more flexible and many of the other players participate more in defence.
Mainly, Xabi wants a collective mindset and more discipline not just on the pitch but also inside the dressing room. He has a different way of coaching than Ancelotti as he involves himself in training and prefers young talents. Many of the new players who arrived were young, but lacked experience.
But some speculate the club played mainly against smaller clubs and that their only loss (against Atletico de Madrid 5-2) was a sign that they would underperform. Like last season, they would go trophyless. But Xabi is still confident and believes in his strategy. So is Xabi’s new strategy working or is he too confident?
