Introduction
This UEFA Champions League final was literally spectacular. In case you didn’t know, you don’t usually see a 5-0 in a final. Funny enough, it happened! Read this to learn more about this stunning final!
Before the game
Paris Saint Germain and Inter Milan both defeated good teams. Inter won 3-3/4-3 against Barcelona and PSG disqualified Arsenal 1-0/2-1. Both teams were ready for the game that was at Munich in Germany. The location was decided before the league started, so if Bayern Munich went in the final, they would’ve been home.
Tactics
While PSG has a high pressing tactic, Inter is defending so they can counter attack. That’s why they struggled to try to score a goal.
First Half
In the first half, PSG gave the kickoff by shooting the ball very far. Normally, you don’t kick off like that but PSG did that a lot lately,so I guess that’s their new kickoff technique. In the ninth minute, Doué tried to shoot but Sommer caught it. Same scenario with Dembélé two minutes after. Barely thirty seconds after, Kvaratskhellia dribbled through the defense and passed it to Doué. He immediately passed it to Hakimi who had an open goal. Hakimi scored. At the nineteenth minute , Inter Milan had a (missed) opportunity. PSG quickly counter-attacked, with Dembélé passing to Doué. He shot; his shot was deviated by Dimarco, but still went in! Seven minutes later, Hakimi crossed to Ruiz without any success. In the thirty-sixth minute, Inter had one of their only occasions; they obtained a corner but Thuram headered it a few inches from the goal. A few minutes before halftime, Doué passed to Dembélé who missed the goal. At the beginning of additional time (two minutes) Doué dribbled through the whole defense but missed his shot. Two minutes later, Dembélé shot a corner that Kvaratskhellia headered over the goal.
Second Half
Inter Milan had a totally different way of giving the kickoff: the striker passes the ball to the defender that shoots it very far. Seconds after, Kvaratskhellia almost scored but the ball passed over the goal. In the forty-ninth minute, PSG counter-attacked but the same thing happened with Kvaratskhellia. Eleven minutes later, Inter’s coach got a yellow card. During that minute, PSG got another missed opportunity. Two minutes later, Dembélé passed to Vitinha who passed it to Doué who took a shot and GOAL!!! At the sixty-ninth minute, Dembélé tried to cross but nobody was in the center to receive it. The ball then went to Ruiz who crossed to Barcola but he shot it too high. Only three minutes later, Paris counter-attacked leaving Kvaratskhellia in a one-vs-one against Sommer. Kvaratskhellia didn’t miss.4-0 at minute number seventy-two. Two minutes later, Thuram had a good shot but Donnarumma saved it and Mendes cleared it. Inter Milan had a good opportunity but Donnarumma saves it again. During the eightieth minute, Barcola dribbled through the defense but missed his shot. Three minutes later, Kvaratskhellia,Neves and Ruìz went out. They were replaced by Mayulu, Zaïre-Emery and Ramos. At the eightieth-fifth minute, Mayulu passed to Barcola, Barcola repassed it to Mayulu and he made a beautiful entering post! At the last minute of the game (not counting extra time) Hakimi got a yellow card for simulation (pretending you’re hurt but you’re not).A minute later, Paris won the Champion’s League for the first time in history!
Conclusion
