Gaga-ball & its origins

In this article, we’ll be talking about gaga-ball.

Gaga-ball, also known as Octo-ball or Panda-ball was created in 1975 by Steven Steinberg in Israel. What makes gaga-ball so special is it’s played with a soft, foam ball and the sport helps people learn to improve control over themselves by running, jumping, and changing directions. The whole point of gaga ball is to hit the ball to your opponent’s legs (knees and under) and they’re out of the game. In some versions of gaga-ball, the rules are sometimes waist and under, or sometimes the rules extend to ankles and under! The meaning in Hebrew of “gaga” means “touch-touch”, and “ball”, stays the same. The field for gaga-ball isn’t a field, it’s actually just a pit in the shape of an octagon (8 sides).
